Matthew Perales

Biography

I was born and raised in Holland, Michigan.  I attended Western Michigan University where I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Secondary Education in 2006.  In January of 2007, I moved to Arizona to find a job as a teacher—something that was difficult in Michigan.  In addition, the promise of beautiful winters swayed me to make the cross-country move.  I was hired at Walker Butte K-8 in the Florence Unified School District to teach 7th grade Language Arts.  I married Mrs. Perales in June of 2007.  In 2011, I made a switch to 7th grade Mathematics, still at Walker Butte.  In October 2015, our first child, Lincoln, was born.  In May of 2016, I finished my Master of Science degree in Educational Leadership from Western Governor’s University. In July of 2016, I left Walker Butte after nearly 10 years of service to become a math teacher at San Tan Foothills High School.  I’m super excited to be a Sabercat, both now and for years to come, and look forward to the new, rewarding challenges of teaching high school
