I attended Portland State University where I received bachelor degrees in both Linguistics and International Studies with a focus on Southeast Asia. I also received my Teaching English as a Second Language Endorsement. During my time at PSU, I volunteered with EIRCO and taught English to Refugees, received an internship with the International Studies Department where I helped organize a Peace Conference that hosted Nobel peace prizes laureates and the Dali Lama, and I spent a semester as an exchange student in China. I went on to earn a master’s degree in education and a second masters in special education. I am currently working on my doctorate in Educational Leadership and technology.
I am very excited to begin my eleventh year teaching special education for the Florence Unified School District and my thirteenth year as a teacher. I believe that every child is capable of achieving greatness when provided the individual educational supports that they need to access the curriculum. I enjoy being a part of an Individual Education Program (IEP) team and helping students design high school programs that will support their goals after high school. I am excited to take on the role of ELL coordinator/director for San Tan Foothills this year.
